Virginia's 4 PM Burning Law is currently in effect and will remain so until April 30, 2024. This law is enforced annually from February 15 through April 30 to help manage and reduce the risk of wildfires. The law prohibits any open-air burning before 4 PM if the fire is within 300 feet of woodland, brushland, or fields containing dry grass or other inflammable materials. After 4 PM, burning is allowed but must be done with caution and must be attended at all times until it is completely extinguished. Additionally, some localities may have even stricter regulations, so it's advised to check with local authorities before starting any fires.
